Will you make your JFK connection?
JFK publishes no minimum connection time, and any site that gives you one confident number is guessing at the part that matters most. This adds up what can actually be measured, then tells you plainly how much is left for what cannot.

Why we will not just tell you yes or no
Because the biggest variable in a JFK terminal change is the security queue, and there is no verifiable live wait feed for JFK. We decline to publish security queue times anywhere on this site for that reason, and inventing one here to produce a confident verdict would be the same error wearing a more useful shape.
What we can do that nobody else does is give you a real immigration figure rather than a generic one. The number above comes from US Customs and Border Protection's own hourly reporting for your specific arrival terminal, and it varies more than people expect: the full picture is on what CBP’s own data says about the JFK queue.
Do you have to clear security again at JFK?
Yes, whenever you change terminal. The Port Authority's own connections guide states that once you reach your departure terminal you will need to go through TSA screening again. JFK's AirTrain runs landside, so a terminal change means leaving the secure area and re-entering it.
One exception, and it is a useful one. Within Terminal 4, Delta runs a free shuttle between concourses and the airport states you do not re-clear security to use it. A Terminal 4 to Terminal 4 connection is a genuinely different proposition from a terminal change.
What changes if you are arriving from abroad?
You collect your checked bags and re-check them, even when they are tagged to your final destination. That is the Port Authority's instruction, not our advice, and it is the step people most often leave out of their own maths. It sits on top of immigration, and both happen before you reach the AirTrain.
