JFK terminals

JFK has five active terminals: 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8, arranged around one loop road and linked only by the AirTrain. Your terminal is decided by your airline and printed on your boarding pass. Find yours below, or look up the airline directly.

How many terminals does JFK have?

JFK has five active terminals. The missing numbers are demolished history: Terminals 2 and 3 are gone, and Terminal 6 is being rebuilt as part of the current programme. If you see a source saying eight, including New York City's own tourism site, it is describing the airport before the rebuild. Counting five is the one that gets you to the right building.

How do you get between terminals at JFK?

By AirTrain, which is the only connection and is free within the airport. The important consequence: the terminals are not connected airside, so changing terminal means leaving security and clearing it again at the other end. Allow properly for that on a connection. How the loop and its branches fit together is on the JFK airport map.
